Data gathered from various sources ranging from Economics to Biomedical Sciences is having a huge impact on the policy decisions being made in current times and this is only going to increase in the future. An analysis of such large amounts of data gathered from diverse fields requires experts from Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Economics and Social Sciences to work together for the betterment of society. Hence, there is an immediate need to accelerate data based research in these areas. This is The Fourth Paradigm of Science, with the other three being empirical measurements, theoretical modelling and computer simulations.
IISER Bhopal would like to take a lead in this regard by bringing together researchers from diverse data driven research areas, and providing them a platform where they can share their ideas with each other in order to discover solutions for various social as well as scientific problems. The Fourth Paradigm : From Data to Discovery is an international meeting for scientists working with data across all fields of science and engineering. The conference, in its first ever meeting from 27th to 30th January, 2020, will focus on the applications of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and other methods of Data Analysis in all areas of Science and Engineering including, but not limited to, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Environment, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Economics and Social Sciences. This initiative is a part of the interdisciplinary programme in Data Science & Engineering recently started at IISER Bhopal. This conference will consist of plenary and invited talks by renowned scientists from academia and industry, panel discussions on relevant topics, a data driven business plan competition and also poster presentations.
